Hello all,

I joined the forum today, no Tacoma in my garage - yet. I am thinking pre-owned in the 2011-2016 range. I have a few basic questions about Tacoma equipment packages, thus far the local dealership has been no help at all. I'm in my 70's and dread the dealer sales pitch/strongarm tactics anyway.

Which discussion group would you suggest to get me started?

Thanks.

Welcome to the forum.
It’s according to what you plan on using the truck for and what options as to what package.

Thank you for responding, in short it would be for general homeowner-type use (like I said, I'm in my 70's), occasional road trip, no off road or harsh duty service likely. Probably leaning toward extended cab with longer bed, rather than four doors and smaller bed.

My biggest problem now is learning what each package/trim level includes, for instance when I see SR5 or TRD Sport in an ad what does that mean, or where do I find a concise list of what each package consists of.compared to another.

My basic question to the nearby dealership was did any Tacoma's come with leather/heated seats, and if so, which ones? I still can't believe a Toyota dealer has such difficulty answering on simple question.

Here’s a good link to compare trim levels.
https://www.toyota.com/tacoma/features/options_packages/

On the third generation Tacoma (2016-present) the trim levels are:
SR
SR5
TRD Sport
TRD Off-Road
Limited
TRD Pro

Generation two Tacoma (2005-2015) trim levels:
Base
SR5
TRD Sport
X-Runner
Pre-Runner
TRD OffRoad

Leather/heated seats is an option on the third gen on the TRD models with the premium package and standard on the Pro and Limited.
Also you can get a long bed on a double cab if you want more cab space.

Also, you can always add quality leather seat covers and heated seats for under $1k to any trim level you buy. They’re made great and look stock. If leather/heated seats are the only upgrade you want on a daily driver that could be an option for you.

Welcome to the forum. @Bogunn pretty much sums it up.
None of the Tacoma’s you’re going to see from 2011-2016 will have OEM leather. Heated seats where options that the premuim TRD models have. The 2018 has option for heated/leathers.
You can get a long bed (6’) with a double cab. I’ve seen 2011-2015 DCLB SR5’s and sports. I haven't seen the long beds in the off-roads on 2nd gens. They make DCLB off-road in the 2016.
You sound like you’d be happy with a 2014 or 15 DCLB sport find one with heated seats and add leather clazzio seat covers for $500.

Thank you all for your help and suggestions. Just understanding trim levels will help in my online dealer/private sale searching by being able to cull out models that wouldn't interest me.
