Extended Warranty to buy or not to buy.

I just hit 60k on my truck, and about 200 miles prior to that my poor 2016 TRD OR Toyota found her leaking oil from the Timing pan during her regular oil change service. They gave me a rental for a week ans replaced all of her gaskets and seals (an additional day off work for a trip back because the mechanics FORGOT to plug the AC compressor back in [emoji35]). So here's my question, Toyota told me this was about a 5 grand job and I've heard terrible things about the 2016 models as far as the taco vibration and shudder (mine has experienced some of these issues) and the cruise control engine revving.... So here's my question... Should I buy the extended warranty for this truck? What are experiences you guys have had?

Dont know about tacos but on the ram forum people are having serious questions about extended warranty. A lot of the extended warranties basically make it mandatory that all parts including filters are OEM and replaced at specified intervals. Basically any reason at all that they can pull out if their hat is good to void the warranty.

Go with the Toyota Care warranty if you’re still able. Look at the fine print to make sure it’s a right fit for you.

I drove a 96 Honda for 12 years and I'm pretty sure it was the only 100 percent OEM Honda left in Central Florida when I sold her [emoji23] OEM is not an issue

The only issue is not using OEM stuff, at least as far as they're concerned. The aftermarket warranty people will look for any reason they can to void the warranty.

My 2016 was almost 2qts low on tranny fluid from factory. Would jolt when it went inti gear.Bitched to corporate and got a 8yr 125k mile Platinum warranty out of them. My gas cap lid broke at hinge , gonna see if they cover it?

I bought my extended warranty from a Wolverine Toyota in Wisconsin (I believe it was Wisconsin). Anyhoo, her price was HALF of what local dealers want for the same warranty, including buying the warranty when I bought the vehicle. Worth it for all of those little electronic sensors that go south 45 seconds after your factory warranty is over.

My 2 cents...

On new/redesigned models I would get the extended warranty (ie 2016-2017 Tacoma’s)

On my 2012 - I opted out of it

My thinking - redesigned models always have their issues. It usually takes 3-4 years before the manufacturers work out all the little bugs.
