Actually Serious About The Whole Family Friendly Thing...

Howdy Folks,

This isn't a message to any one person... but it seems that some members aren't getting the family friendly rules that this site runs on.

It's funny because even though some users complain that this site is the same as other sites, other people (and sometimes the same people) complain that it's different in that we have a different set of rules. Our Posting Rules may need to be clarified and I welcome your feedback if that's the case... But, I'm serious about keeping this site family friendly. I want to keep cursing off the site (or at the very least at a minimum) and all sexual content off the site as well. Sexual content can be images, usernames, links, videos, discussion, etc...

Now, I've heard all the complaints about this already. Some people think I'm trying to "censor the internet" or that I'm treating people like children. Fine, call it what you will. But no matter what you think of these rules that's how this site will operate so it's your call. You can decide to stick around and obey the posting rules or decide this site isn't for you and go somewhere else. I wish you the best of luck either way.

....

I think one of the problems is that a group of people have come from another site and expect this site to operate the same way the other site did. I'm happy to have new members join this site and the goal is to slowly build the community. But I think the expectations from some people need to be adjusted. My vision of building a community here is to have a fun group of guys (and gals) who can talk about their trucks and have a good time talking about other topics in a positive and family friendly environment.

So, the ball is in your court. Is a family friendly site a turn off for you? If so no big deal. That just means this site isn't for you. I hope that isn't the case but you can't please everyone.

Hope that makes sense to everyone.
Thanks

your version of family friendly is so damn strict.

Depending on your background I'm sure it could be seen that way. Everyone is different and that's one of the reasons I started a new site from scratch. Thankfully you have options and there are plenty of other places you can visit if our rules are to much.

Thanks.

Right now I have TackleBox.com but that's an ecommerce project waiting to happen more than a forum. I still need to get around to that.

Well, early forums would be ContractorTalk.com, DIYChatroom.com, ElectricianTalk.com, and a few other trade based forums. I started using vBulletin back in 2003. I don't own those sites anymore though and have nothing to do with them.

Pretty long story actually that I'd rather not get into. Any specific questions about the family friendly topic?

i read through it on your electricians site. your paying the money, and making the profit, you make the rules. have fun with your site.

Don't see that being a huge problem...it's going to keep a lot of the BSing away too.

I agree. I think the rules are very clear and I dont have a problem with them. I'm also a member of another forum and I see nothing but neglect and no consideration for the opinions of others. I'm glad to have come across TacomaFourm and I hope this site stays a place people can escape the BS from others. Keep up the good work Nathan

Your site, your rules, Nathan. Anyone that wants to join should also be willing to follow the rules- that's my belief. So you've got no fight from me- I'll follow the rules. Also, these rules will cut down on a lot of the BS you get on other sites that don't have these rules, meaning help and reliable info will be more plentiful. Props on creating this site, and I hope that your efforts are rewarded with explosive forum growth!

Cheers, Fenwick.

I could not have said it better myself TacoJoe!

This sight is a refreshing approach to an otherwise cynical and rule free Internet. We will have our opponents and naysayers I say let them say what they say and do what they do. This will be a responsible and mature community for tacoma enthusiasts.
