Reactions to 2020 Tacoma updates

Looks like not every Toyota Tacoma enthusiast is thrilled about the upcoming 2020Tacoma changes. Here is the story from Torque News discussing the 2020 Tacoma changes and reactions of enthusiasts to these updates.

What do you think?
It doesn't excite me at all. They haven't given the tacoma the attention where it needs it, like the drivetrain and towing/payload. I don't care for a power seat but it should've been an option a decade ago. Led lights? Woohoo... those have been around for a decade as well...
I'm willing to bet that it will have the same sloppy, gutless tune as well, has the same hp/tq numbers, which are weak.
Their next engine reform is bound to be a 4 banger with a whistler... not interested... I doubt I'll ever get another new Tacoma. I'll keep this 17 until it falls apart and go back to my old school trucks. Lol

First of all LMAO!!!
Second, I couldn’t agree more.

It will be significantly cheaper to purchase the “new updates” as after market, and install them to our trucks, than to go out and purchase a new truck that comes with a watered down version of Morimoto’s New after market headlights for 3rd gen Tacoma’s , you can get for $1,200 and some change.
It wouldn’t surprise if Toyota’s next big reveal, after yet another disappointing one, would be a 4 banger.
This is what frustrates me so much with this company. Rather than going back to quality and performance. They’re watering themselves down more and more every year with, wait for it, TRD edition Camry’s and Avalon’s that consist of a body kit and “performance suspension” that you could probably purchase the same equipment from RACELAND. They would probably just slap a TRD sticker on it and mark it up a couple grand more than its worth.
What’s my point? They keep hyping up their new updates only to release something insignificant, and like you said should’ve been available since day one. But I guess this year is better than the snorkel.
What’s gonna happen when companies like Rivian release their trucks? Sure it’s not ideal because most of us can’t afford a $60,000 + pickup but for what it offers makes sense. 250-400 miles at 750hp 10,300 ftlbs of torque. That thing will pay for its self. Meanwhile we’re purchasing $40k trucks that barely push 278hp and for $800 you can purchase a reflash that might put you over 300hp but possibly void your warranty.
I get it, if I wanted fast i should’ve got a sports car. But is a little more bang for your buck too much to ask for? Especially with where the automotive world is going? Every year cars get alittle faster. Toyota Tacoma’s not so much. Eventually brands like Rivian, and Tesla will release fully electric pickups that are alittle more cost friendly. Possibly even inspire other companies to build new vehicles on that concept When that happens what will Toyota do. Priu-coma?

Yessir! You're smelling what I'm stepping in!
I'm on my #4 Tacoma and don't get me wrong, I love it. No plans of trading in for anything but I may pass it on to Wifey and drag out an old F100 to make road worthy again. They fit me better anyway...
I built a 351C a couple years ago that got about the same mileage and was a lot more fun to drive. [emoji23]
Currently collecting parts for a 300 inline 6 build... love the way they tick... plus, 4.9L 6 cyl?!?!... [emoji33] lol

Lmao yeah man, like you I love my truck and don’t intend to sell or trade it. But I probably won’t buy another new Tacoma until something insane happens. Till then I’ll continue to count down the years till I pay it off then eventually do a swap that will make this TRD sport, actually sporty ;)
Or do like you again and buy something alittle older, and build that to be a gas guzzling champ!
