2018 SR5 Budget Build possibilities, Need a little help

I’m looking into a few options for building up my 2018 SR5 and I wanted to know a few things before I go forward.
1) I’m looking at a used 2017 TRD OR suspension with about 10,000 miles on it. It’s comes with the front Bilstein shocks and coil springs, the Rear Bilstein shocks and leaf springs as well as an add a leaf. It’s affordable but I want to know if there is a significant difference between the SR5 and the OR other than the shocks. Are the leafs and coils heavier duty or are they basically the same? In the future I’d like to do a 2.5 in lift on the truck but money’s tight now and I’m getting the itch to do something to the truck within reason.

2) I’m also considering putting either 275/70R16’s or 265/75R16’s on the truck in addition to this set up. I’m not looking to do the cab chop at this point and I’d really like to stay away from spacers. Is there anyone here that has done this and had good results (no rubbing) and if so, what are the brand of tires would you suggest.

If there are any related posts on here you can point me to that would be greatly appreciated.

The off-road has crawl control and back up camera. If the sr5 has a camera then it will be smaller than the off-road camera. I’m sure there are some other things but that’s all I know. I’m hoping I’m correct on that

As far at tech features. Im pretty clear with with the TRD OR offers. I’m mostly looking to see if the coils or leaf springs are a heavier duty set up compared to my SR5

I honestly can’t answer that. Someone like crawdad will know. They will chime in they have a lot of knowledge.

@Crawdad ?? o_O

The off-road suspension is an upgrade from the SR. It’s not going to add much lift if any in front and the truck already has a rear rake so adding an AAL in back is really going to bring the rear up. The bilsteins are the 4600’s not adjustable.
If you don’t mind sharing how much are they selling the set up for?
I would look at saving the money to put towards bilstein 5100’s in front and an AAL in back.

You can fit 265/75/16 on it now. 275’s you might need a little lower offset wheel to help clear the UCA. The SR wheels have a +25 offset. The 275’s will bring the tire .2” closer a +20 offset will bring that back to stock clearance.

I'm 99% sure that the coil and leaf packs are identical between models, although the baja 2nd gens had different leaf springs iirc...

Like @OR17TRD mentioned, it would probably make you a lot happier to wait and save for some Bilstein 5100's and a progressive AAL for the back. (Right @kp.taco? How are you liking the springs?)

I understand getting the itch, and although the Bilstein 4600's would be a slight upgrade from the SR shocks, your time and $$$ could be better spent and give you more smiles per gallon... haha

With a 2" lift in front you should be able to run either tire you mentioned without doing the cab mount chop. I haven't done it yet with 285/70-17's and a 2" lift, my caster is at 4 tho.

The progressive AAL is real nice.. I'll never run a block again!

So I picked up the complete set up for $200 which seemed like a steal even if I don’t end up using it. But I did think about saving for the 5100 set up as well. This was a temporary solution until I decide what to do next.

And this is really good to know. I’ve been looking at a set of Goodyear Duratrac’s at 265/75R16. Is there anyone running those on their truck at the moment?

So I had a buddy pick up these parts from Ohio last week and the rear leaf pack looks a little beefier that what’s on my SR5. When I look underneath my truck I see 4 leafs and this set up has 6 in the pack with out the AAL. Here is a photo of what $200 got me Now I’m not 100% sure I’m putting in these upper control arms since they look identical to the ones on my truck already so that seems senseless. But everything else looks pretty good to me and it’s cleaned up pretty well too. I may not put in that AAL that off to the side in the photo. 58224347738__84178C32-B1BE-4090-9C5F-018FAB3EE53B.jpg

I think those packs actually have a progressive 3 leaf AAL already installed... maybe @kp.taco can confirm?
The 3 smallest leaves look different and there's an extra guide bracket or whatever they're called on each end...

Why no block? Curious... Which aad would you go with?
You could always go with a 3 inch leveling kit. Might be aboul to get those tires under it as well. Leveling kits are way cheaper that lift kits and it's a good way to start.

I’ve got the new suspension in, and with the AAL the rear end of the truck is about 2.5 inches higher than the front. I’m seriously considering getting the 2” Rough Country strut spacer to bring the nose up a bit. Has anyone done this and had any issues? Right now it’s the cheapest solution I see.
