Knowing What You Do Now

Knowing what you do now, if you could go back in time to say age 19, and have a do-over of life, would you change your path?
If yes, what would you have rather done?

I dont think I'd change anything. My life has been pretty great. Yes it had its ups and downs, but they made me the man I am today.
That's just it, I can't complain about the life I've had, like you said its had its ups and downs but basically a good life. Just can't help but wander what it would have been if I had chosen the other direction. Maybe next go around I'll choose the other direction.

always with the left field questions, BC ;) haha! age 19 was a crossroads for me. could have stayed in Boston, spent all my time chasing italian boys in the north end, haha! could have made a life out there, or crossed the border...who knows? even thought very seriously about joining the military, but mama wasn't too thrilled about that. so i chose to come home. the path i took gave me two wonderful daughters and i would never want to change that for anything. however, knowing what i know now - if i could go back in time i would have invested in property, bought my damn Tacoma like i wanted, and spent more quality time with the mama before she got sick. what about you, BC?

Had two hours of talking to several strangers today at the golf course. Another guy sitting alone, I invited him to join me at my table, and I bought him a beer. We had an amazing talk, he asked me the question I posed here. If I was to do it over, I would like to additionally get into a rock band if possible.
I have regrets of course.
Losing Katie, losing friends, not getting into a rock band, not reaching out to the two friends who committed suicide in time to help....and more.
But as of today, despite all of it, I have a good lady in my life, a nice home, toys, good businesses, friends, dogs, and maybe even a child in the future.
So I can't complain too much.
Wish my mental health, and physical health were better sure!
But my mental health is a 100 times better than it was a decade ago.

you deserve some good, kiddo!

Thanks T.

Today was a very good day!
Met some nice people as well.
The old man who joined me for a beer, those talks like we had, they make life worth living.
I don't consider suicide very often anymore.
Wake up less often in a cold sweat.
When I got home took the pups for a good walk. Just ate some pizza with B, who fed the crusts to the boys, because she doesn't like crusts lol.
Now watching the last 20 something laps of the Nascar Coca Cola 600.

Thanks T.

Good one BC,,,,,,,a good wife, life partner and best friend who wanted to sit beside you and share the ride.everything else ,I wouldn’t change, as a single parent,I raised 1 daughter (solo) who turned out amazing, happily married,a spectacular Mother and a good person(always taught her it’s ok to make mistakes, just learn from them So as not to repeat them and always do the right thing,be the better person,,,,and she’s made me Proud many times,,,,,she’s now 30 !!)
When I look in the mirror,I’m proud of the man I am,,,I have my Health, a good career and a beautiful Grandson !

i meant no disrespect. those tributes always make me cry too.

You are such a beautiful soul T, I don't ever think of anything you say as even slightly offensive. It would be an honor to meet you some day to. I was just adding my feelings was all. In a way my heart felt that car won for Donovan Reep, who valiantly gave his life. Maybe its just me who felt that, but I don't contribute that win very much to the driver, although it was nice for him to.
This winter I plan to pull the gas tank off of my bike, and have a paint artist I know write the names of all 17 brothers and sisters I knew from my service, that are no longer with us. When I go for rides, their names will then ride with me. I have some very special plans for the front fender, and the large plastic pieces on each side of the tank as well.
