New to tacomas and the forum.

I need help deciding on what to do to my truck. I want to lift it but not sure if I wanna use spacers cause I've heard mixed things or an actual lift. I want to be able to install it my self so I can learn and don't want to break the bank or mess anything up with my suspension. If someone could help that would be awesome.
Thanks

Simple. Don't use spacers. Read up on Bilstein 5100s.

I would be with whipper on this. 5100's on the corners is a reasonably priced and effective mod to the truck.

Sorry for the stupid question, but like i said im new to toyotas and truck in general, always had cars that could be lowered.

5100s work by compressing your coil spring. Now you will get a rougher ride with 5100s but they are much better than spacers. Also you can get the 1.6 lift could with the 5100s for a smoother ride.

But whats the reason behind them being bad? Someone said it maintains the stock ride but thats all?

The spacers basically make the shock preloaded at all times. If you go off-roading than it is bad because it can bend the shock if you take bad drop. If you are all for looks and no off-roading, then it'll be fine but I still would never do it. http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l...C-FE08-4734-A587-E7B386BA4691_zpssqlmwzc7.jpg this is what a spacer lift can do to your shock.

People who say that spacers maintain the stock ride are clueless. Also as pointed out above, you can bend your shocks with top plate spacers. This happens because you move the shock down so that it bottoms out before you hit the bump stop. Why put a cheap @$$ lift on a 30K truck?

Bought the cruise control stalk and the wiper delay stalk, had it all installed in under an hour. Now have intermittent wipers and cruise control, and its great!!!! If your unsure about doing these two mods, please dont hesistate, it is worth every penney of it, especially the wipers, so much nicer!!!!!!
