I have never owned a good cordless drill. I have a $4 unit I got from my Albetson days. It was on clearance so why not. I was thinking about getting a Dewalt impact plus drill kit but I don't need the impact right away. I don't mind spending a bit of cash on something good. What do you guys use?

I have craftsman, dewalt and makita...

The best drills we've ever owned and used have been the dewalt hands down. A bit expensive (depending on which one you get or need) but it was worth it

Nice. That was my choice before starting this thread. Good of you to chime in though since you guya use them all day for work.

No prob man.

The 2 dewalt impact and regular drills I keep in my work van are 7 years old and the batteries still keep great charge to this day

I have two ryobi cordless impacts..one for home and one for work. The one for work is used all day long, had it for a year and a half and just recently noticed battery life sucking. Considering the use and abuse I have put that impact through I'm not complaint. The home impact is used a lot and also goes with me on the trail as part of my tool bag. I also have a ryobi cordless drill that has never giving me any troubles, that one also goes in the tool bag for the trail. And last but not least, I have a ryobi cordless leaf blower and weed whacker that kicks ass lol.

Top of list I would recommend dewalt obviously then hilti, ryobi, Nikita, craftsman..anything under craftsman is just whatever...

^^their old stuff was junk, but the last 3-4 years ive seen an increase of people having their products and actually doing the job with no problem

I have a craftsman I got for my birthday like 10 years ago and I am still on the original two batteries. With pretty heavy use, my only complaint is the bulk of the drill the new ones are nice and light.

About 2 years ago I picked up some Ryobi stuff drill, impact, cricular saw and the batteries will not hold a charge very long now. I am thinking of picking up the lithium Ion batteries to see if they last any longer.

If was to buy a replacement for my current setup I would go with either Rigid or Dewalt. They will last forever!

The quick release is ****ing nice...you can switch from 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 drive thingys so you can use what ever socket size you need. Plus there's also tons of various bits that utilize the quick release..

On an impact?

Nah you don't use it for lug nuts or anything... shrouds, timing covers ect. good stuff! You'll be surprised at what those could do!

Well I figured the drill would handle those duties.

I am only considering the kit because it is a massive $10 difference. Lol.

Here is the impact:

Ok impact DRIVER vs a standard impact. I wasn't understanding the difference.
