Radio head unit goes black

Has anybody had an issue with their LCD display blacking out then rebooting? Mine has blacked out on me a few times now. Also it reset my current fuel reading and I was on track to record my best mpg yet. Blah!
I scheduled an appointment to have it looked at but I know they will just say they couldn't replicate it when it doesn't happen for them.

Does it happen while driving or does it happen at anytime? Kinda dumb question but have you checked battery connection? What year is your taco?

It is a 2016 and so far has happened when driving. However it seemed to reset the mpg record when I turned it off and ran into the market. I'm guessing it might be a loose wire somewhere. It might just be in my head but I feel like my radio reception has gotten worse too. I do live an area where there isn't a great deal of radio reception though. It just seems worse than usual.

Just tell the dealer to do the right thing and fix it. It's a new truck, so obviously it shouldn't have that type of issue... Make it their problem, not yours!!

I had a new Subaru that would do that in only high humidity areas. The humidity messes with electronics and airbags according to Toyota. (Airbag law suit)

My stereo blacked out a couple of days this week. Dropped my Taco off yesterday at the dealership. Was told this is happening on Tacos and Tundras quite a bit, so Toyota knows about it.

Replaced my factory radio with a JVC unit from Crutchfield. Great sound in my 2009 Tacoma.

Mine blacked out once, had to stop turn off and restart the truck and the display started working again. I'm sure this will become an issue once the warranty expires.

I had a problem with cd ejecting since the day one I got the truck and it's been over 2 months that dealer is telling me head units are back ordered

I've had my 2016 for a month. It did it when my wife plugged her iPhone in so I assumed it didn't recognize her phone. The. Just yesterday, 3 weeks after I bought it, it started again. It happens driving and parked. It's really annoying. I'm 4 hours from the dealership but am waiting until I go up to have my canopy installed to bring it up.

The main screen is always turning off for less than a second and then it turns back on. Its distracting. I usually keep the screen off unless there is a passenger

What Taco Cruiser said, if you search over on TW you can find the thread. I did the upgrade on mine after it blacked out in the first week I owned it.
