BASIC Things to Bring Offroad

Decent , informative video, I might've included communications (cells, 2-meter ham,cb's, etc:) & worthy of noting is the misconception of tow straps with hooks, although I agree that hookless straps are a better app but the hooked straps are safe when used properly. (like any other recovery device) I've seen quite a few straps disenergrate during recovery efforts & I have yet to see one (with hooks) create a dangerous situation, there's 2 spots a strap will fail, either in the middle (when max tension separates fibers) or they break right at the hook, which is of no consequence, there is no forward pressure on hook to cause it to take off like a projectile, even with the physics in place the pressure applied is "pulling" the hook, not pushing, now if the hook came apart that might become an issue, but the likely hood of the hook breaking before the strap is pretty remote....

EDIT: Now if we're talking about using chain then all bets are off & everyone should seek cover when recovery begins , when they pop I can promise that now , you have a dangerous situation....

Hopefully it pans out. The only thing worse than a front wheel drive Taco is a completely immobile one.
