Remote Starter

Good morning has anyone put a remote starter in there 2017 Tacoma yet?
I'm thinking of going with a Compustar with drone mobile, seems to be one of the best put there.

I was looking at that one as well. Easy instal and like you said no hacking of wires. The only reason I was thinking of the Compustar was so I could run the Drone Mobile with it. I'm not always in range of the vehicles and as long as I've got cell service it should start. That being said I'll have to call the guys at 12volt and Drone Mobile to see if they're compatable with each other.
Any thoughts.

12 Volt Solutions offers a plug and play add on called Viper SmartStart. The price is virtually the same for Viper and Drone’s Basic Plan, about $5 a month. Both have location services and remote starting from your phone. Both modules are priced fairly similarly. I don’t know if the 12 Volt Solutions and Drone are compatible.
Drone has an alarm system with alerts plus it monitors your vehicle through OBD2 readings. But it recommends professional install.
Viper is plug and play.
Basically it boils down to whether you want a plug and play system without an alarm or if you want the extra features of Drone with a pro install.

Awesome thanks for the feedback. Clay from 12 volt called me back and basically relayed the same info. All remote starts are flashed to be compatable with the viper smart start.

Let us know what you end up doing and how it goes. I’m thinking of getting one of the add on systems myself for the range.

Copy that, the guys at 12 Volt are willing to walk through any troubles the purchaser has with the add on. The only problem is waiting for them to catch up to the demand. Back ordered but ready for shipping by thanksgiving. $200 for the Viper Smart Start.

MY CAR Smart Start. Couldn't wait for the 12volt system inventory to be replenished with -20°c every morning. Seems to be working fine so far + 3yrs free subscription.

Apparently it's too difficult to turn a key, so I'm gonna spend 200$ to push a button lmfao

Although I get the sentiment , there's a reason for remote starters , especially for those east of here & north of L.A. (as @Bogunn mentioned) & as I learned when I lived in N. Nevada for 7 months IT IS
COLD brutha !! I mean too & through the bones man haha, so it makes perfect sense to do this when it's 60 inside & 6 degrees outside, you're like me, been in socal spoiled by the sun for too long, we forget what it's like else where....;)

P.S. I had a push button starter in my old truck just like a trophy truck has...:)

3 years free is great. Better than the others for sure.

I thought the same, Lol he has no clue theirs no key and you have to push a button to start the truck anyway, lol

It’s crazy bc you have to start with the fob, then get out and lock the door with the key for it to not get stolen. Then unlock with key because the fob is useless. When it’s cold at 3:00 am and I’m runnining out in my underwear to get it started so it can be warmed up for when I leave at 3:15. That key sucks. I will be getting a remote start. Call me lazy, I can handle that!

How far is the range your getting now?
The nice thing about the Smart Start regardless of which brand you go with its basically limited to the cell coverage in your location. Key fob range isnt so good. Also as mentioned by another member the key fob is limited to the way you have to lock your doors. With the remote start the engine is killed once the doors are opened. Puts the mind at ease while the vehicle is warming up.
