Best Cost Effective Way to Improve 3rd Gen Entune Premium

I am in the middle of this upgrade on my '17 TRD Sport Access Cab. I got the tweeters from Amazon they were $95, but using my Amazon Card, i get 5% off, so I could live with spending a couple extra dollars. I got the others from crutchfield Kicker 43CSC6934 6x9 3 ways for the front doors ($74.99), and the Kicker 43CSC674 6 3/4" 2 ways for the back door.($51.99) Crutchfield supplied the adapter rings, Toyota wiring harnesses, hardware and instructions. All delivered the next day. I was very happy with the service.

So the tweeters arrived on Sunday, and I put them in. Right away, there was a huge difference in clarity, night and day. I wasn't going to order woofers right away, but after seeing the improvement that the tweeters made, I had to pull the trigger. I installed the 6x9's in the front door this evening after work, but haven't had time to install the rears yet - that'll happen tomorrow. Even with the tweeters and front door speakers, the sound quality is tremendous. The difference in magnet size and cone quality is tremendous.

I'm happy with the stereo now, and I'm sure I'll be even happier tomorrow when i put the rear drivers in.

I am just happy that we have good head units to drive the good speakers. When I bought my speakers I was so worried that they would not get enough power. That proved to be a very worthy investment. Did you laugh when you compared stock to the Kickers. I have passed kidney stones larger than the stock magnets. Had my door speakers since April and they were one of the best mods made to my Tacoma. Glad you took advantage of this low budget enhancement.

They sound ok, but am wondering if I could get clearer highs and a bit better bass from upgrading just speakers. Wondering if it’s worth the money

I did the upgrade. It’s everything that poduxn describes. It now is now a true premium sound system. Using Bluetooth from your phone’s music gives you the best sound quality for sure. SiriusXM is fair at best, but it’s 10x better than the stock speakers.

Thanks for the post, I am very happy with the upgrade!

That is great. I would not dare bs anyone when it comes to spending money. I am still pretty amazed at the sound quality for simply swapping speakers. More often, than not, simply swapping speakers is the beginning of a long expensive path leading to a new head unit. Not so with our entune premium. It is rare to buy speakers and be done. I feel sorry for those that yanked out the head units first. They still had to buy speakers so they probably overspent. This deal is really cost effective. Personally I just use my usb thumb drive for music and it blows away xm or cd sound. Have not tried any phone apps.

I’m about to do this. My only question is about the wiring harness adapter and the mounting adapter. Is this something that comes in the box or do I need to order something separate?

It comes with the speakers if you buy from Crutchfield. Otherwise yes you’ll have to buy it all separately or hack up your OEM wires (don’t do that)
I posted a link here to sign up and get deals and a chance to win $350.

Did a little more research on them looks like they are the same. The 101 is just the newer model number. Same part and interchangeable. The number difference is usually just a revision, probably parts from a different supplier.2EF54C8F-97FF-4521-9DD6-CA149F6A5783.jpeg

Found the Subaru tweeters part number H631SFJ100 on amazon for $65 and ordered from Crutchfield for the 6x9” and 6 3/4” for $109 all free shipping, free wire harness and mounting kit. I will have everything by next weekend. $174 for speaker upgrade. I’m excited to install and hear them.
