2018 Tacoma Released

Merry Christmas.

I just became aware that Toyota has now made the 2018 Tacoma available to dealerships. The hush hush is over.

From what I can tell so far, the only new feature is Toyota Safety Sense P (TSS-P) and some new grille designs and paint colors. But I haven't researched it much yet.

There is a Toyota press release that summarizes the mods.

The most interesting thing is that the new 2018s are built in San Antonio, TX, not Baja, Mexico. Did Trump make that happen?

Feel free to comment on any details you might glean that I haven't yet become aware of.

They drilled holes and added more sensors.

TSS-P is a big change.

Yeah, you’re dead on. Lol. Drilled a few holes and added sensors. But those sensors make a pretty big difference with all the safety features.
I think it’s a good idea but I don’t know if I would want them honestly. Kinda freaky having the vehicle correct your driving.

I read somewhere that the 2018 isn't able to be lifted without affecting the TSS-P, or not recommended . Has anyone heard about this, I can't see Toyota not having this option, seeing that a good majority of people want to lift these vehicle. Possibly realign the sensors (another expense)?

If that’s true, then Toyota made a big mistake and will lose a lot of its customers.

Lift it and turn the garbage safety crap off. You will be fine.
