Greetings from Oklahoma. For the past 10 years I have driven the powerful Rams with Hemis and Jeep Wrangler Rubicon’s. I decided to try a used 2013 Tacoma with only 25k miles in September. When I showed up at my son’s ranch with a two wheel drive, I got the look I used to give him when I didn’t approve of something he did. He said nice truck Dad, I really like it but you should have bought a 4 wheel drive. I had already fallen in love with the Tacoma so the wife and I talked about “MY mistake” when I got home. I had just sold the Jeep so I decided to sell the Limited Edition Ram as well, went out the next day and bought a new 2017 TRD Off Road. Then sold the 2013. Yes, it cost me. Just wish the TRD had leather and power seats.

Still getting used to the constantly shifting automatic. I read on the forum the Tacoma “learns” and after the service manager told me that is the way they are when using the cruise control, I changed my driving habits. The next month I drove it like I stoll it, topped the hills on the Turner Turnpike at 95 mph plus floored running as high a rpm I could, and didn’t care if I tore it up. Heck, it is under warranty. I have babied every vehicle I’ve owned but not this one. Now with 4,500 miles it seems to have learned and I am driving it more like the retired person I am.

My first experience with Toyota was a 1976 Hi Lux with radio and cigarette lighter. Then bought a 1977 Celica and a 1982 Celica. Snuck in an Avalon along the way. So I hope I like this Toyota as much as I did those.

Did you get the short bed or long bed? Double cab? What color?
Leather and Power seats are on my wish list. Check out clazzio seat covers.

Eastern Oklahoma County. Choctaw.

Nice, my mom was born in poteau (Cherokee & Choctaw) & lived in heavner, spent a lot of summers back there, I remember lots of trees, lots of water & lots of cotton mouths snapping turtles chiggers but the heat

Damned heat & humidity was the worse but the country was beautiful...

That’s awesome, this is my first post on here, I bought a new ‘18 Limited in Cement/Black from Tulsa, OK and it’s being transported as we speak to sunny Los Angeles, CA...the anticipation is killing me! Congrats and welcome!

Perfect description. But the humidity in Savanah about wiped us out last summer.

Hope the Taco makes a quick trip to LA. I took a few large trucks for a local Chevy fleet dealer to LA. I would leave after school (I was an administrator) on Friday and deliver early Sunday morning in order to be back in Oklahoma City Sunday night. Long, fast, solo trip.
Enjoy your Tacoma
