Wheels and tire's

Try to stay 17in Wheels
You could do 285/70/17 on 17x8.5” 0 offset. Get a good alignment it will rub a little at full lock when you hit a bump. Like turning into a driveway.
You could heat and mold the plastic where it rubs. If you off road your cab mount will hit from time to time and CMC would resolve that issue.
If you don’t want that big and rubbing and modifying I’d get 275/70/17’s on 17x8” if you like the 0 offset you could stay with that you could go as low as -6 for a little wider stance or as close to stock as +14 which would be the TRD pro Tacoma wheels or the like. The 4Runner pro wheels are +4 offset.
Or you can keep your stock wheels and put 265/70/17 on.

This may be a dumb thing but, has anyone removed the fender flares to make the tires look a little more flush? Vs spacers or wider wheels. Factory wheels already have a decent offset

Factory wheels have a +30 on sports and a +25 on the off-roads they sit in from 0 which would be flush with the hub.
