Ride from hell

You have read my posts and I feel for you. Fortunately I haven’t had any problems with mine. The transmission shifting is my only real dislike.

Did the 2018 drive/shift differently or about the same.

Good luck with your search.
Thanks.
I didn’t drive it.
1. it wasn’t what I wanted and
2. it was buried behind 4 vehicles in the back lot and I wasn’t going to make the sales guy take it out if I wasn’t serious about buying it.

@OR17TRD that white 4runner is sharp. I want one pretty bad but it's just way to handy to have a truck.. Good luck with whatever you choose to do man.. I would be frustrated too if I was you..

I like the out side but the inside needed a tech update.
Thanks.
The sales guy was tell me the 2019 4runner is getting a redesign. He was trying to tell me they are going to put the 3.5L motor in the 4runners for 2019. I found some articles but nothing on that change.

Most vehicles won’t last 30 years. If they are taken care of sure but most aren’t still on the road 30 years later. That’s way a classic is any vehicle older than 15 years while an antique is more than 25 years old.

I have liked having a DCLB but Im almost over my 2017 Tacoma. I’ve been very patient with the issues it’s had. I knew going into it somethings would probably come up on a new engine/transmission. I waited a year to buy one hoping that Toyota would figure most of it out within that time. How I was wrong.
The rear diff leaking again broke me.
So... I called corporate for the fifth time a few days ago. I was told they would send a master tech out at the end of the month to look at my truck and see what’s happening. They said after that they can try to fix it again and I keep driving it or I can work towards lemon lawing it and having them buy it back.
After I saw my diff leaking again I went to the dealer to look at what they had and saw this View attachment 18596 2018 4runner TRD off-road on their lot. It wasn’t as nice as I thought it was going to be. The Tacoma interior with premium tech package is nicer IMO. They where going to give me $38k for my Tacoma and the price on the 4Runner was $37.
After negotiating I realized I need a truck and walked away. I’m sure the sales guy and sales manager where sad.
So I kept searching...
I found a 1st gen 2003 DCSB with 3.4L 88k miles on it but the guy wanted $16,500 firm and it’s a SB I like having the LB but this truck was nice. I don’t know about $5k over book nice though.
I found a lot of second gens they all have 50-250k miles and want 12-34k for them. I also was never a fan of how they look. They look to bubbly in the front to me.

I went to look at a 2018 TRD off-road DCLB yesterday. It had the tech package with the JBL and black leather seats but the rear bumper was chrome plastic it did not have the blind spot or the rear sonar. None of the 2018 off-roads I saw had color matching bumpers or parking sensors. I don’t understand why they would not add them to an already loaded Tacoma. The chrome bumper caps made them all look cheap.
I started looking at other trucks and don’t like the way any of them look as much as I like the way my Tacoma looks.
I’m still looking for a 2018 Tacoma that has everything I want. If I can’t find one before I find something else I may not be a 3rd gen Tacoma owner for very much longer. In the year and 3 months I’ve owned my Tacoma I’ve been without it for 22 days, it’s been in the shop 11 times for TSB’s, recalls and other issues they have no fix for. It’s “normal”
Man, sorry to hear you're having so much trouble. Where do they draw the line for the "lemon law" deal? You must be close to qualifying. Lol.
Just get those 4.88's with some good gaskets re installed! [emoji38]

It hasnt been on road for over 12 yrs unless you count femce rows and cpw paths but it still runs barely that is with a good push
Front emd shot not safe but it does run was my omly transportation at one time

Well art at least your happy with that Toyota. I’m also glad your are still on the forum. Their are threads for pre 95 models if you’re looking for parts to get that beast road ready again.

Yeah I already had the front diff replaced at 500 miles if I would have known about his rear I would have waited and did that. :(

Thanks ,for the kind words,a shame a person lays out 20 30or even 50 k and ends up with something they can't feel good about.
Value is one thing usefullnress is another . I am still a Toyota fan just not a fan of their new technology.
If you purchase a auto/truck and it spends allot of time in the shop even under warranty . What value is it?

I’ll definitely agree with you there. If you can’t drive it then it’s useless.
A warranty is a great fail safe but just because you have it doesn’t mean you want to use it constantly.
