Lower mpg

Driving habits is pretty much the only thing. Exhaust and intakes have never made a difference with me either

+2 you’ll get less if you keep your foot in it and more if you baby it. You may squeeze a mpg here and there with expensive mods but it really comes down to driving style and maintenance.
If high mpg is what you’re looking for a midsize truck probably isn’t your best option. Probably a Yaris or Prius.

18-22 highway on 285s so far...lead foot only when having fun, then I get 14...but that mileage is at 80 psi on E series BFGs.

Drive it like there is an egg under the pedal and you don’t want to crush it. Keep your rpms under 2000 on the highway. I can get up to 20 mpg with 285/75/16 load e doing that. 17 mpg in town. Good luck!

To many hills and mountains where I’m at. I’d never make it up them with those driving habits.

Driving habits combined with mods to increase HP/Torque, gear ratios, engine swaps, weight reduction....if you have crappy driving habits, all of that will work against you.
