Finally adding mods

I’ve had my 2016 Tacoma TRD Off-Road for a little over a year now and I’m finally starting to modify it some. I want to lift it. Who has some good advice on lifting it?

Honestly man, the best thing you can do is start reading this site and others as much as possible, and asking specific questions. The forum has been super helpful in answering some questions fast. But lift answers just aren't fast, especially if you're just getting started. I'm in the process of lifting mine as well, and the forum has been helpful when I have specific questions or brands/setups that I'm comparing and contrasting. I'd start by trying to nail down what you like and what you're looking for: look at other trucks you like. Establish a basic, working, but somewhat flexible budget, and keep asking questions. Good luck

I’ll try to be less vague. It’s just kinda hard figuring out where to get start since it’s my first truck. Thanks man

Totally get it. I was/am the same way. I recommend first trying to figure out how much you want to lift it, and what you're wanting the purpose to be. Are you wanting to go purely for looks, or are you wanting to do some more offroading? Next, I'd try and figure out a little more what your budget is. You'll want to factor in wheels/tires if you're upgrading those too. My research has pretty well convinced me that spacer lifts are sexy on the budget, but hell on the truck, and you'll likely want to move more toward a full on suspension upgrade if you want to see increased performance with less likelihood for a horror story. But it'll be more expensive. From there, it comes down to height, budget, and preferences. Kings/Icons/Fox will be thrown around as the top dogs, then you'll hear about Toytec/OME and some others as the midlevel, and then billstein. All of these seem to be trusted by guys on the forum, and bring different things to the table. I hope this helps at least get you started. But please know that I am a total novice here and some of the more seasoned vets here can likely give you more direction, as well as poke holes in what I've said above.

First question I would have is what’s your budget. That’s going to narrow down what you can actually put on.
$1000? $2000? $5000?

The second thing I’d ask is what’s your purpose for lifting the truck?
mall crawler? Trails? Overlanding? Desert?

We really like it when people use the search function but we kinda wait around to see who responds first to the vague questions and then the thread usually ends up being about @kp.taco's My Little Pony fetish, (#SKEWPSNORKEL), @OR17TRD'S FUPA, @4wd's wig, @Bojangles fritter addiction, how outgoing and friendly @B-Man is, @Bogunn has to say "West By-God Virginia" a time or two, @whippersnapper02 channels Negative Nancy and puts us all in the corner and sometimes the thread just turns awkward,...
