The irony of my Taco is crazy. This was my first auto I baby each day every day . Once in a wile sure a kick in the pants ,the truck was my best truck , sure a ding or two occurred but I did not care I just like it so much
heck my daughter completely banged into rear fender . I bang it out . and it was like what ever
I LOVE MY TACO , fender ripple and all . $316 payments per month on a 2008 to a total $16000.00
Mattered not . Was it the best deal ? Ha Ha - - at two hundred nineteen thousand miles - most any one would say are you off your rocker . Well the truck proved Perfect about all I ever needed was a carrier bearing and a strut rear tires . Never even a set of brakes after 25,000 miles .
Ok the night of sadness as usual drove slow but I was very Tired , reaction suspect , a deer runs out of no place a hit and natural instinct to avoid at same time put me in a ditch .
I pull out of ditch - survey damage , lights grill bumper gone hood fenders need replacement or carefully bondo work other then that no damage past the area that hold grill and such FIXABLE
NO air bag deployment

The day innocence died
I'm old school see go back 40 years and you bring car to shop
The shop say $4000
Ins company says Nope a total
The shop says NO NO we can fix INS company complies
Well I woke up yes year 2018 not 1978
Now a days the ins company prices out for perfection
looks at Book value - Salvage value . percent of repair to value .
The Rights of lender as to equity of a repaired truck .
The Insurance company calls it a TOTAL , wile your at home with high hopes
thinking it can be fixed .
they inform lender
list it as a total making it not registrable
till a salvage reregistration spec. can be satisfied

Well I have to consider my self lucky
loan paid in full
I received a check for $1,400
for a 10 year old truck with 249,000 miles
even to the end my Silver T did it's best by me
no negative loan . Still my hart is broken
naturally all I see are other Tacoma's about town .

What's next ?
I am saving up money for a bit newer lower mileage Taco
it wont be tomorrow
or next week
it might be a year from now .
But the time will come when a my saved money equals
a better Taco then before especially now I see the true miles these trucks can go .
Thanks to all members of past post's . Wish me luck
All members protect your truck from the Insurance company's
The salvage VALUE is high and offers insurance company's a way out
compared to paying to fix

PS
Last photo at night
just as well for me to never having a day pic.

Yep, that deer pretty much did in the front end. Glad you weren't hurt in the process.

Glad you weren't hurt. There's more tacos in the world. Member @longshore is selling his 2nd gen with only 16k miles on it. Don't know what part of the country your in but it may be worth checking out.

Growing up in Northern Mich, Ive had plenty of deer ruin a good vehicle, and many Ins companies screw me. Made the switch to USAA and never looked back. Glad your OK.

ARB bumpers - - I SEE lesson learned and USAA found them on the Net .
Thanks about getting hurt , yes I got a black eye , nose cut from glasses , colar bone hurt a bit ( yeah no seat belt on )
lucky I was driving slow . It could of been worse !!

I have had many - Cars / Trucks & thats what they are to me , BUT the Taco was above it all
Sooo smooth and silky ,
I think you all know what I mean it just floated along like emmmmmm as if you were in meditation
Since the event Ive seen some 4 door pick ups - Fords - Chev's - Dodge's and NOPE they are old auto's to me
No Magic , no aura
Well thanks and best wishes to you all .

Sorry to hear about your taco☹️☹️☹️. On a related note my stepson told me this about deer accidents recently. If you hit a deer the ins company will pay for damages. If you hit a tree or a ditch avoiding the deer they won't pay.
I know it wouldn't have made a difference in your case, but in case others didn't know this I posted this reply.

@Bogunn could have hit that little F’er with his Aussie approved roo bar. To bad the new one doesn’t have it. :(

Bummer. At least you’re ok. No seatbelt and all. Time to find a new Tacoma and buckle up.

It's gonna be a wile till next one , this time I want a decent deposit . I am using a 35 year old dodge with stick and slant six had it all along
but now it's the main auto , I have another car that had been sitting for 1 year that needs alternator and brake lines it's an 8 passenger
I'm expecting that to carry me till I get another Taco . Hard you know because all day every day I see Taco's , BUT I see $9000 will buy what I once had with way less Miles

As a testament to the mechanical Hart of a Taco , look it's not alive , but this truck gets into
you like a relationship , when it's gone you have to figure a way to reconcile the situation
I've had many cars and trucks . This truck is a loss that as far as auto's go I just cant compare
I think it has some thing to do with it's vast abilities .
It looked respectable even at 10
It was fast when needed
It handled well into a range of being impressive
Great MPG
Snow mud rain . You got home
What more do you want - An All Around Truck
