‘17 Taco Off Road Dash Rattle

Hi y’all,

Wondering if anyone else has this. Now that winter has hit, I’m getting a rattle just under the dash on the drivers side. Weird, because a light pressure on the top, cluster face, cluster side, makes it go away. Only happens when it’s cold, and at low speeds.

Only 14 mos old, 17k miles, no hard abuse yet. Haven’t done any mods to create it

My '17 Sport had a glove box rattle. Turns out the culprit was the plastic shelf when weight was placed on it. Fixed that, now I get a passenger side dash tick or click when going over road bumps, but only during sub-zero weather (32F).
Thankfully no driver side noise as you've described, so far...

Same truck and same noise as you. It’s been driving me nuts lately.

You can try to use some of this stuff. Or something like it.
My 2017 was doing the same thing over by the passenger side A-pillar was the worst. This stuff fixed it. You can double or triple it up if you need more pressure to stop the rattles.

Exactly. My 2016 TRD OR did the same thing where the A pillar meets the dash. It would only tick/tick/tick when below freezing. My 2019 hasn’t exhibited this problem yet, thankfully.

My 16 and 17 both had rattles on the passenger side dash. The dealership took care of it in both trucks. I believe it was a TSB on it.
Any info on the TSB?

Any direct access to TSBs? Not sure I trust that I’m told everything.

Just because you’re paranoid doesn’t mean they aren’t out to get you.

I take a business card. Fold in half or thirds or ...you know. Then fit between the parts that rattle. I color the card black to match the dash.

My rattle was where the A column touches the dash. I think it’s the A column. The piece between the windshield and passenger side window.
