Touchy wet brakes!

When my 2015 Tacoma (20,274 miles) has either damp or wet brakes their very sensitive. They grab with little pressure on the pedal. Dry and there is no issues. Been doing it since I bought it with 4,000 miles on it. Has anyone else witnessed this on their truck?

Could be because you have slotted rotors. I've always felt touchy brakes when wet in different vehicles.
Every vehicle I've ever owned has acted the same when the brakes were wet, less initial bite. I'm pretty sure it effects the slotted rotors I'm running slightly less, but they have never been MORE grabby when wet as the op is stating.

Maybe I'm reading it wrong and the op is referring to the overactive ABS when things are wet? I've def experienced abs kick in at those times, and this is one giant reason I have the abs Killswitch.
That stupid ass system will kill you if a squirrel has a slightly wet fart even on the other side of the road.

I actually see this topic come up all over the web now..... Interesting.
Maybe I am one of the types that adapt quicker?

I don't get it.... I can agree with the tires having less grip, which could make the brakes lockup easier creating the illusion that the brakes are suddenly much grabbier. I can buy the abs causing false belief the brakes are biting harder due to tire slippage activating abs.
I can even buy the "small rust layer" forming on the rotors offering a more abrasive surface and allowing for a couple of initial stops having more bite. But that vehicle would have to be sitting for a few days to accumulate cancer on the rotors surface, it don't happen overnight and should come off after a few stops.

Maybe I'm missing something. Maybe not enough rain in Kalifornia?
Maybe too much garage time? I dunno what I'm doing right or wrong.

Dunk them at Azusa in one of the river crossings and they get real touchy. Not sure why it happens. Maybe the water is taking up space between the rotor and pad and itself acting as a brake pad for an instant.

Actually, after I wash the truck and pay attention to scrubbing/blasting brake dust off of the wheels, I drag the brakes when I first start moving... Gently, and at a slow pace for only a couple car lengths I suppose.
I've done this many times with many vehicles, same with large puddles sometimes.

U beat me to my last post...

After crossing water up to mid rim, and once almost up to my rockers, I did my normal brake drag. It's what I've done as long as I can remember. Maybe some others have that habit and its causing the two parties in this dicussion across many forumz..I dunno

Same here.
It’s normal. Been doing it since disc brakes have been in use.

I have a 2015 double cab 4x4 V6 which does this the first time I touch the brakes. I think just in the mornings when they are damp. After the first time braking, they are fine. They don't lock up, just seem very sensitive with very little pressure applied. Doesn't bother me since it's been doing it since new.

My 09 does the exact same thing and always has..

And here i have to say that i drove the camry the other day in the rain..... The first stop i made about locked up the tires.

I guess ive not run ceramics for so many years that i totally forgot about this phenomenon. Just another reason for me to keep running semi metallic pads on the truck.

Is the wetness the issue or is that causing the issue? I've noticed my rotors get rusty if its even just humid and if I don't drive it for a while the brakes feel a bit 'gritty' until the rust is worn off.
