TRD Oil Filter

Truthfully I’ve never cleaned one before and just now googled it. That combined with cleaning, drying, and oiling of the filter...I change my mind

Good choice. It’s not worth the risk to the MAF and all the work. It was different in a carbureted big block but unfortunately those days are gone.

Unfortunately haha. I never liked having to clean or tune a carb and when you where off road it would always die at the worst times.

It’s a love/hate relationship. I miss the beautiful simplicity. But things always seem better looking back don’t they? Lol.
I don’t miss adjusting the carb but it was always nice to be able to fix literally anything on a vehicle in your driveway with no OBD2. Just basic tools, time, busted knuckles, and a lot of cussing. lol.

Not to change the subject...
Almost every 3rd Gen "oil change vid" on youtube uses Mobil 1 0w-20 "advanced fuel economy" ??? Is this formulation close to Toyota 0w-20??

Don't over think it.
Toyota doesn't make oil

Ever notice the Toyota branded oil bottle looks alot like a bottle of mobil1?

Same with their world standard trans fluid

Toyota 0/20 is blended by Exxon/Mobil, says so in the fine print on back of bottle. Without a chemical analysis id venture to say that it's somewhere between AFE and EP in the 0/20 flavor. JMO.

As far as the oil filters go ive looked at a couple aftermarket filters and they all look to me like theyd reduce oil flow because they are bound so tight. Ive also read where guys are complaining of excess engine noise with aftermarket filters.

I'm on board with BigMau. The last thing I want to do is F.O.D out my engine with a cheap filter or starve it with lack of flow. I'll get some Mobile One 0w-20 and a filter plug washer from the dealership.

I've ran the K&N air filters on everything I've owned for the last 20 years and never had the first issue. I can see where over oiling would be an issue however never had that problem. I think people buy the recharge kit and they think they have to use it all in one cleaning. One recharge kit will last for several cleanings.
