New to the Taco

Just got into the Taco. Thanks to you guys I read up on some of the issues. Pretty sure I'm going to need the Trans TSB. A couple times already it delayed going into drive and also try to launch it's self with my foot on the brake. I've got the TSB in hand and will be visiting my friendly stealership for the first time. It also shows I might need the blower replaced but I'm not sure if that's something they do if it's not broke.

If it's brand new, the trans should get better over a couple thousand miles. I'm around 3,800 miles and mine shifts a lot better than when I bought it.

I take mine in for the first service on March 29th. I'll still ask them about the TSB 0062-18 tune or what ever they call it.

Gonna see if they'll disable the damn seat belt warning chime too.

CONGRATS, and good luck.

The tranny update is not perfect but it really improves it! As far as the blower motor.....they'll change it out.....doesn't need to be broken. Had mine done.....no problem and my 'old' one was working perfect......they still changed it!

My first trip to the stealership wasn't bad at all. Lucked out and got a good looking service advisor. Got the blower ordered per recall and brought the trans TSB with me. Also asked them if they could check the ATF level. Went in today to TCB. They took care of everything with out question. You can pretty much see the whole service area. I watched them hook the console up after the truck sat for awhile. Dude fired it up. Looked like he was going through the gears. After a short time he brought the drain pan up and did his thing. Got to say I'm digging the new trans program. I'm on my 2nd tank of fuel. The first tank coming back from TN was through the mountains with some badass headwinds to the point it would come out of 6th on level ground. Showed 20.3 mpg. This second tank is showing 23.5 mpg. That's with making a couple of pulls to 90ish mph in the name of merging with traffic. I can already tell the Taco and me are going to be really close. Again, I want to thank you gents for a great forum.

That's good news on the trans update. My dealer will be gently asked one more time to provide said update, and if they don't want to then I will change tactics. Mine does that thing where it tries to jump with your foot on the brake. I've come near to bumping a few parking bollards because of that. Approaching 38K miles, so it won't be long.

I lucked out to date and got a good stealership. These cats were practically asking me about a survey before I left. The first time I went in to order the blower I had the trans TSB in hand. I laid out the whole issue to include alleged low ATF. What may help in my behalf is after retiring from the Aviation industry for the last 14 years I've been retained and representing multiple fortune 500 automotive suppliers. With that said, no doubt some dealerships are full of people who are related to the owner/manager. Since they want to play stupid(or maybe they are) give corporate a call and pretty much verbatim in reference to the TSB tell them what your issue is. Do mention your safety concern through out the conversation. If it's not too big of a pain go to a different dealership. Don't mention anything about issues with the other place.
