Dent repair

So, I was on my way to work today and a whole line of traffic stopped dead in their tracks leaving me stranded in the intersection (illegal). I moved into an apparently clear lane but some asshat came speeding up and hit my passenger front door denting it quite horribly. My question, is there a way to repair it without buying a replacement.

Wow! Glad you're alright. I don't know 'bout a fix.....might have to replace that but I'm not a body guy. I know if that was my door.......the guy that hit it would be in the ER getting my boot removed from his a$$.

Wow. That’s pretty bad. There’s probably no way a dent repair would work. Will probably have to replace the panel. There’s too many scratches and creases.
Ask around at different body shops, there may be an option I’m not aware of.

Yeah, it is so deep that my window will only roll down like 1/8 of the way. Another thing i noticed is my running board on that side is now at an angle. Is there a way to level ot out? I am thinking the struts got bent.

Sam

You can probably order new brackets for the running boards as long as the board itself isn't bent. You may be able to pull the door panel and push the dent out so you can roll the window down if needed.

I do estimates for insurance. That door us a gonner. It likely bent the reinforcement bar in the shell and is not safe. Also that outer panel would need a good 10+ labor hours to repair which is going to be more than a new door.

Seems a little low since they have to blend the rear door and fender as well as replace the running board. But depends on the cost of the used door they found.

There was no damage to the fender, just the front passenger door and a super small dent on the rear passenger door where it meshes with the front passenger door from opening it up. They also updated my repair estimate, instead of $1998, it is now $1960. The part cost is $947, that includes the door and running boards. So if they got a cheap running board set they coulda gotten a whole NEW door. cost like $630 for a brad new aftermarket shell and likely the whole door (glass, inner panel, handles, etc) would be round $800. But if they usse the good parts from my old door, they would only need the shell and exterior handle & components.

Not too shabby of a price at all. Thank God for insurance though.

Now the price went up and they will have it for another week. Apparently there was damage to the rocker panel caused by the asshole that hit me. It is like $2,050 total now.

New door, new rocker, new running boards, and dent removal from back passenger door. It was supposed to be done Monday, but they changed it to Wednesday. I rented a 2019 Tacoma SR5, nice truck, but only though Monday. Cost me $460 (5 day rental=$310, sec dep=$150), and now I gotta hope they finish it early cause 2 more days is another $110. Total price they are showing is $2425 ($500 on my part). By the time I get it back if schedule remains same, they will have had it 2wk. I want it back darnit, I am most definitely asking for a total breakdown including of the purchased parts, I wanna know what took 2wk :/

UPDATE 21 Oct:
So now they are saying Friday 25 Oct. WTF are they doing to my truck?

UPDATE 23 OCT:

Woohoo

They were saying Tuesday (3wk) but I hounded them for info and reasoning. They say that they had to wait for approval for another repair on my truck. Further now they have told me exactly where it is in the process.

"Hello Sam, the truck is in the paint process, there was additional damage found and we did a supplement than had to wait for approval to continue. We received it on 10/21. We are doing our best to get the truck to you on Friday. We will call you as soon as it comes out of clean-up. Have a great day."

Soo happy, was bout to max out my CC.

finally finally got a back it looks brand new. Now I got another issue, somehow they managed to unravel or cut the threads on my driver-side back seat. It is the leather look vinyl (leatherette or sport fabric). Anyone know how to fix that? I will upload pics a bit later.
