Throttle body spacer is it worth it?

I've been thinking about getting one. Is it worth it? Does brand matter? It doesn't seem hard to install. Is there additional parts that I need

They don't do anything.

It started with carb spacers back in the day. Those work because the fuel/air mix happens in the carb. They also worked for throttle body injected engine. Carb spacers were never meant for improved mileage. Modern vehicles mix the air and fuel just above the intake valve or in the cylinder itself (direct injection). So with that in mind there is no benefits with throttle body spacers now. Some people say it straightens the air flow but the air still gets tumbled in the intake manifold so it doesn't remain straight even if a spacer did anything.

Bottom line is that if you are worried about MPGs, you are driving the wrong vehicle.

^^^Thing with that is you don't have to spend $28K on a Prius for good MPG. Hyundai Elantra, Kia Rio, VW TDI, Toyota Yaris and many others get great MPGs for a lot less. Hybrids are gimmicks. $45K for a Volt. No thanks.

Also if you get laid because of your vehicle then it probably isn't quality pu$$y. :D

Oh I'm not worried about gas mileage I used to drive a big box van. For work. That sucker got 7 mpg on a good day. You know every little bit helps. I just got my taco Saturday. There's so many things I want to do to it

Whip, my friend, I have to disagree with you about hybrids being gimmicks. I think they fill a valid automotive need. I bought my first Camry Hybrid 7 years ago. Put 95,000 miles on it before trading it for my Tacoma. Average mpg for the 6 1/2 years I owned it was just over 36 mpg. Not as much as you might get in a diesel, but paid less at the gas pump than than oil burners do, and the added cost on the sticker was comparable to what you'd pay for a diesel. I've owned a diesel VW and not having to go out of my way to fill up my car was an added bonus.

By the way, I apologize for getting off topic. I have to echo what others have said...nix on the throttle body spacer.

I understand that it's expensive. Toyota says it's 3K for replacement. They've had good enough luck with them that they've extended the warranty from 5/50,000 to 8/80,000. What does it cost to replace an internal combustion engine? A fellow I know at our local dealership says that since the Prius was introduced, they've only replace 3 battery packs. One was the result of a collision, one was the result of rodents getting into the wiring and one because it just went bad.

One off the reasons I think they're here to stay is because of the tremendous strides in battery output and life. But, because the infrastructure is not in place to province quick charging stations, hybrids make more sense than pure electrics. I've been a radio control flyer for the past 20 years or so and have seen first hand electric planes evolve from the small park flyers to to the size that most R/C flyers fly. Cost has come down to the point that an electric motor, speed control, and battery pack are about the same cost as a comparable size "glow" engine. And when 10% nitro fuel is $20 a gallon, being able to charge at home for just pennies is an added bonus. Okay, I'll quit now.
