Folks, what do you thing? Worth the money?
I have a 2004 Tacoma 4 cylinder, standard tranny, extended cab, 230k miles. Bought it new. Toyota replaced the frame (yay!). No rust anywhere. Only standard maintenance items done. Should I have all or some of this done, because I intend to have it for a while? Most of this is becoming annoying, should have some of this done earlier. I will be taking it to a service that specializes in Toyotas. I trust them and they are very convenient. Their prices are fine and they stand behind their work.
- Resistance when shifting, especially when stopped or low rpm. Adjust clutch or replace, possibly pressure plate needs replaced, vacuum assist problem?
- It's taking small bumps too hard. And we have bad winters where I live, they will always be bad. This is something I really should have addressed much earlier. Looking at new struts.
- Timing belt (due to mileage)?
- No brainer here - most of the dash board lights are out. The dang steering column cover seems glued together. I can't get it off for fear of breaking it. I can't get the rest of the dash cover off if it is there. Maybe it was only caulked or something like that. Have all the lights replaced, if the service place breaks it, so be it. Pay for a new/used one. Whatever it takes.
- Fuel injector servicing. I wonder if something like this is necessary, actually. It's not like I have a problem with them, or my gas mileage.
Actually, it's not that much. Maybe not enough to natter over, as far as money spent. I haven't had much else done to it. I had an air bag sensor go bad. Exhaust work. It still has the original catalytic converter.
