2017 Toyota Tacoma transmission. Come on Toyota!!

Let me now if I'm right on this bchurch?
I'm pretty sure his frustration is...
While using his cruise control it won't shift out of 4th gear keeping the RPM's around 3300. You should be able to use cruise control and have the engine shift into the overdrive gears and keep the RPM's at an optimal range for improved gas mileage. Something is wrong with the CC.
I've owned many vehicles and used CC on all of them. Mostly while on the interstate traveling which always increased my gas mileage.
CC when designed correctly and working correctly should improve your gas mileage by keeping the amount of gas input constant and the RPMs from fluctuation thus improving MPG.
When manually pushing the gas pedal there will be more variable pressure. CC is suppose to eliminate this variable.
It doesn't sound like it's allowing CC to stay in 5th and or 6th gear which would decrease the RPM's and improve the gas mileage by at least 10mpg. 19/24 is Toyota's claimed rating.
I'm lucky if I get 14/19.

OK that makes more sense. I didn't realize he was having a cruise control issue. Sorry be church

Truck was in Drive. Cruise set. Should have been 6th gear but noooooo. The truck shifts down to 4th and stays. Do you really think i had it in manual mode in 4??

Sorry, was laughing... yea. Cruise control when used at hwy speeds like 75mph, the tranny just shifts down and on any small incline will shift down to 4th, then after cresting and going down the other side it stays in 4th the whole time. Like once it gets into 4th it locks in and says FU, i like it here. Lol

20.8mpg around town. Tranny works pretty well just driving it. 13mpg on highway and not 60mph hwys but 75mph hwys. Truck feels like the overdrive 5 and 6 dont have enough torque to keep the truck at 75mph. I only use cruise on long trips and this issue makes long trips painful.....

Ok guys I hear all the frustration. I have a 16 TRD OR. Got the latest tsb. I was experimenting If your truck is equipped with ECT button use it. It makes the trans shift points delay so hold RPM and gears longer. I love it now. Before I leave o the am. I switch it. Feels like a different trans the V6 comes to life.
Going up hills feels nice. Punching it on the FWY feels smooth. Try it got nothing to loose. It's for towing for more of assistance but what a difference.

With or without the ECT button pushed. The truck should operate good/normal. If they wanted the truck to be driven around with ECT on all the time they would have just made it that way and not had the option of turning it on/off.

My truck has noticeably more power and response with the ECT engaged. With or without the ECT I still have a loss of brake pressure and a surging when decelerating at around 15mph and 5mph as well as a bump or clunk after stopping. I get a shutter feeling when braking quickly.
The transmission does not down shift smooth. Yes, Acceleration is improved with ECT but that's all I notice when it's on.

I'm just telling you my experience
I have approx 4000 miles on my 2016. ECT works for me. I wish it could remain on till shut off. But not designed like that. I don't experience that lunging forward after truck being stopped. I did have it before software upgrade.
No it's ok.

I've had all the latest and greatest TSB's completed and lots of other work including the entire front differential replaced.
My truck has 900 miles on it. It's been in the shop for 10 days of the 54 days I've owned it to date.
At this time Toyota acknowledges the issues on my truck. They have no fix for them at this time. They have given me a VSA and offered to take the truck back.
I to am just telling my experience.

I just say bye to my 2016 Tacoma and say hello to my 4Runner.. I got enough of the transmission problems they told me that they acknowledge the problem and truck has issues but they can't fix it... the manager offer me a good deal and is done View attachment 11084
I'm trading my 2016 in tomorrow, I loved how it looked, but with the transmission problems I've reached the end of my rope.

Mine does same and I bought in October and have 20,000 miles on it. It dies in the mud and on hills as if no fuel getting to the engine.

Driving on hwy at 70mph with cruise control set 4500 RPM's had been driving for a few miles like this before I started recording note Odom 1491 miles note MPGimage1.PNG after 10 miles of 4500 RPM's I took it out of D with CC and into S mode 3rd gear same RPMs that the truck was at for almost 10 miles before I had enough of 4500rpms at 70mph.image2.PNG
I have this all on video, these are screen shots of the video.
4th gear. 2900rpms at 68mph. Note MPG dropping. This is over half a tank of fuel used and the average MPG for that tank.
image3.PNG 5th gear 2000 RPM's 72mph odom 1500 miles. image4.PNG6th gear 70mph 1700rpms drove like this for a mile.image5.PNG
Back to D to see where it wants to be at 75mph, it goes back to 4th gear and 3100rpms Odom 1503 milesimage6.PNGNote mpg after 12 miles. .3 mpg decrease. I would expect the transmission to down shift when it's suppose to giving me closer to the MPG advertised. I do get better MPG if I use S mode all the time I can get 16-17 in town and 19-20 on hwy but I purchased an automatic thinking it would do its job on its own. I would have bought the manual if I wanted to shift
