GoPro

I was thinking of grabbing one.

Question, will all go pro, out of the box, mount to the taco or do you need a mounting bracket? What go pro should I grab? I’m not fussy. Price point ?

It should come with the stuff you need if you’re buying it New in a kit. If you buy used on Craigslist or eBay most of them are selling them with all the brackets you’ll need to mount it. Just make sure it’s got them.
From what I’ve heard the 4 is the best deal. I don’t know what changes the 6 has.

Everyone talking about what model GoPro to get, but I don't know anything about that. What's important is that it shoots 1080p at 60fps. You can use it as a dash cam technically, but there are many good reasons not to. I got a $100 dash cam that has never failed me, but it is mounted behind the mirror out of sight. I have a HERO4 Silver, but I never use the Toyota mount, because the picture angle is dismal. They just added it on the windshield because it's super cheap and now the new Tacoma is "GoPro ready" which is stupid. Go on eBay or Amazon and spend $30 on a GoPro mount set. Mine came with chest mount, arm mount, head mount, clip mount (to clip to anywhere), floating selfie mount, extending selfie mount, suction cup mount, and a bunch of mounting bolts and the little base mounts like the one in the windshield. I put a base mount on top back by the radio antenna for rear shots of the caravan behind me when we're in the trails. But honestly, for car shots, you really only need the suction cup one because you constantly move it outside the vehicle and it doesn't leave marks or sticky stuff.
Pro tip: use some string or zip ties or something and tie the GoPro down to the vehicle somehow even though you use a mount, because trees/etc will knock it off and its better to have it dangling from your door handle than to find it covered in mud or lost in the brush. That is, if you notice it's missing before getting to the next stopping point. A buddy lost his brand new GoPro because we didn't know where in the trail it fell off.

I have a GoPro hero4 Black. Great quality no issues. I use it for trail runs or when we have fires here in Southern California and I want to send video back home to family in the Midwest. The mount in my Taco is great. I used suction cup mounts in the past but now I don’t have to clean the ring left behind. I do have some chips in my windshield though and am wondering what a new one will cost with that mount on there.
