I had a shop do mine. I think there’s a video on YouTube on installing it
Everyone uses pop and lock. Lots of threads on it.

Agree it would be nice if it would lock with the truck or have the option to unlock and lock on the fob from factory.

Here’s how I see it...
Do you need the tailgate to unlock every time you unlock the doors?
Dyno Lock also makes an electronic lock.

Does the pop & lock unlock the tailgate every time you hit the key fob?

Usually yes unless you grab power from the passenger door so it only unlocks when you hit the fob twice.
