Left My Taco in Santa Fe

Got to watch out for those Sanra Fe cat people. Glad everyone is ok and I hope the insurance m is good to you.

I am glad this thread is taking the light hearted path.

So I was on the phone with the adjuster from my insurance company and she told me i didn’t do what I was supposed to do when she learned the truck had been towed to an impound yard. Ohhh, I set her straight. She thought the truck was still at this residence and then asked why it wasn’t back in Oklahoma. I told her I did exactly what the Santa Fe PD told me to do and reported the accident by calling the number on the insurance card less than 30minutes after arriving at the scene. Then I did exactly what he said to do which was nothing other than to wait for a call. I contacted my agent Monday at 9:00.

My mistake was not taking a picture of the other driver’s insurance card. The officer told me I could get that information from the accident report. I called records yesterday and was told I had to pick up the report in person. Hmmm. Then I did what I was told. I sent a letter requesting the report with a check. Will have to wait 9 days. No information can be given out over the phone. My insurance company is doing the same thing. I really screwed up and am kicking myself.

Today the truck will be taken to a Chevrolet/Cadillac body shop to be evaluated and possibly repaired. Because there are no collision shops in the area that are in the AAA network, none of the repairs will be guaranteed. If mechanical issues come up it will be on me to seek a remedy. This truck was hit hard and I am really concerned about hidden mechanical damage. They drug it up onto the tow truck. I think my nephew said it wouldn’t come out of park. He works for Toyota in Dallas with recalls. He said this truck needs to be totaled.

I have found two replacement vehicles. An identical Tacoma only with leather and a loaded Canyon. I am thinking about buying one of them by the end of the week. Then bring the repaired Tacoma back to Oklahoma and sell it at a tremendous loss. I will never trust it. I paid off this truck two months ago.

By the way for those with leaky rear ends, I hear Depends aren’t that uncomfortable.

Sounds about right,... I've never had a hassle free experience with insurance companies. You'd think after sending them a check for 10, 20, 50 years whatever,... they'd act a little more accommodating. I wouldn't trust that transmission for sure, hopefully it gets replaced in the process. Good luck to ya!

PS-
I hope you don't buy a GM! [emoji23]

I hope that it all works out for all involved. When my 3 week old Tacoma got totaled out last Sept (2017), it was about the most stressful cluster-flub of my life.... insurance companies going back and forth, and of course the WAITING!!!!! It took about a month from accident to new Tacoma with no additional out-of-pocket money. Hopefully, the insurance companies will treat you right and get you back on the road soon.

I called the body shop and talked to the person writing the estimate. Went very well. I told him I didn’t want the truck back. He said he wouldn’t want it back either and that is after his shop did the repairs. He is going to get repairs to 80%. I told him if I was in Santa Fe I would buy his lunch.

Yea ford along time ago could have been number one but Toyota succeeded. I couldn’t be more happier with my 18 taco except for the drivers door and hood have to be repainted because dirt was painted over it however your taco will out last that raptor in every way we’ll except o-60 lol

Don't forget that you are the victim of her negligence. If you are facing a financial loss and her insurance company is not responding, lawyer up and get compensated to the level you deserve.
