Strange noise when my RE22 has warmed up

OK folks, here's an update on the update. Even though the A/C compressor clutch was bad that wasn't what was causing the squeal as we thought. It was the water pump. The mechanic said he had never seen a water pump that did that when it warmed up, and I haven't either. So, my little Yota now has...

    Backup lights not working

Fuse? Or if I'm thinking correctly, there may be a reverse switch that activates both when the shifter is moved into reverse. That could be bad, or just out of position.

Strange noise when my RE22 has warmed up

@OR17TRD, I understand completely my friend, and I do thank you for your help and suggestions. I was standing right there, and couldn't definitely diagnose it myself. With the A/C working, and cold I would have never thought to look there for the problem. The idler pulley was cheap enough to...

    WTB 3rd Gen Tailgate

Don't give up without a call to your insurance agent. If your policy is like mine, a claim on the comprehensive does not raise the premium. You'll never know unless you call. Good luck.

Strange noise when my RE22 has warmed up

@OR17TRD, well as the saying goes "there's no joy in mudville". It wasn't the pulley. With my at best shade tree mechanic ability I gave up , and took it to our local foreign car mechanic. He diagnosed the problem in less than 5 minutes. It's the A/C compressor clutch. It locks up at slow...

Strange noise when my RE22 has warmed up

OK, the Dayco Idler pulley #89039 fit as it should. The pulley has sealed bearings which is good because I had to scrap the original dust covers, and the old bearing sleeve. The only thing needed from the old setup is the large washer for the back of the new bearing to line everything up. I'm...

I will my friend. The way these pulley's are listed at the parts stores I'm hoping I got the right on the first try. :)

Radar Sensor Errors with TRD Pro Grill Install

If possible take it to another Toyota dealer. Service Writers can come up with some of the craziest crap sometimes.

That would be a hard one to repair, and make it look good. I would say check one of those "pull a part" yards if you have one close. If not scour the salvage yards on the net. I would think you could find one with a little digging. Good luck.

Strange noise when my RE22 has warmed up

@OR17TRD, Thank you sir. I bought one of those stethoscope thingys at good old Harbor Freight yesterday. That will be the first thing I check. Buy easy would that mean a "shade tree" mechanic like me could change it out? Update: OR, I used the stethoscope to check the noise. As the power...

    Radio Muting By Itself

Little annoyances like this can be quite aggravating for sure. If the radio doesn't mute while playing I would guess it could be the phone, or the app. I'm a bit technologically challenged so I start with the easy stuff. I would try a reboot of the phone first, just remove the battery for a few...

Here's some pics of my little '92. My first Yoda.

Thanks folks. It went into service 08/92, and was owned for 20 years by the first owner. He sold it to his preacher when he could no longer drive. The preacher kept it approx. 6 weeks. When he found he couldn't get his grand babies cars seat anchored he sold it the the gentleman I bought it from...
