I used this for years with my Tundra. I haven’t used it on my gen 3 Tacoma until today. I needed to move about 3 yards of 3/4- gravel. Multiple trips.
First attempt to install it would not fit. The tailgate is not long/wide enough to have both clamps that hold the mounting bracket from sliding side to side. I had to remove the inner clamp on both sides.
The 3rd gen tailgate is very thick. The mounting bracket had to be on the largest setting and even then it was a tight fit.
After adjusting and modifying the bed unloader, the tailgate would not close all the way. It would close enough to latch but not shut all the way.
I use a tarp under the bed unloader so any material that falls off the sides while you’re unloading can be easily removed. This will also stop material from going into the tailgate latches and between the tailgate and the bed.
Very useful when unloading gravel, rocks, bark dust, dirt and more.
