Bluetooth phone volume

I have a 2013 with the fancy touch screen radio and bluetooth. When I use the hands free option to take or make a phone call, the volume of the person I am talking to is loud, to say the least. I have tried everything I can think of to turn the volume down, with no luck. Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

Use the steering wheel volume control while on the line to turn it down. Same controls while the phone is ringing to adjust the ringer volume. This shoukd work unless Toyota changed something. In that case bust out the owner's manual.

The volume on the stereo or your steering wheel will raise and lower phone call volume too. Got a '13 w/ same radio.
