My 2016 Tacoma TRD Off-road has jumpy brakes and the transmission has delay when the engine is cold but also erratic shift patterns when it's heated up.. I'm taking it to the dealership in the morning..

on the visit, last Monday at Karl Malone Toyota.. and two transmissions updates and
after wait there for almost 2 or 3 hours,Geoffrey the tech said ...
Yeah I noticed it wanting to stay in a lower gear on the freeway and the revs were pretty high. I didn't get a chance to take it up any steep inclines, but I could see how it might act that way.

Hey. Thx for coming in. I wish there was more I could do for you today on your truck. I agree that there is definite issues with the truck, but from where I'm at we cant change the characteristics of the truck based on the symptoms. The truck was designed to act that way and I can't physically make it not do that. We're gonna go ahead and contact the field specialist and make him come look at your truck to acknowledge the problem and then we can go from there.

Thx for coming in and I'll keep in touch with you about this issue.

My impressions about Geoffrey it is good.. he is Honest guy!
bottom line my truck today can't be fix... and I did open a case with Toyota and they will take it from there...
I do like my truck hopefully Toyota field specialist tech can fix it!!!

I'm far from an expert on this stuff, but after hanging around here for a year, several things come to mind. Hopefully others can add greater insight.

Really, "jumpy" brakes can't be fixed? That doesn't sound normal. Sounds like they were not broken in properly.

"Erratic shift pattern"? Is this like hunting for the right gear? You know, shifting between 4th and 5th all the time. I would not expect a Toyota tech to fix it because that is "normal." Read the discussions about ShiftSense Pro on this site. That might be the answer. Now, if it shifts straight from 2nd to 5th, that's a problem.

"Transmission has delay"? Are you referring to hesitation on acceleration? I'll bet there are a hundred people here who can advise on that. I just cross my fingers it will never happen to me.

By the way, nice lookin' truck.
