Bulkhead of the bed has a rail that is proud to the sides, what gives? 2020 SR Tacoma

The raised bulkhead makes my tonno cover fit poorly. What is the idea behind this raised piece? It also has two threaded female receivers in the middle and can't find anything in the owners manual.

My 18 DCOR is not like that... I hope this is not to make it so you have to get a tonneau from Toyota... might be a factory assembly fault but idk.

My 2016 is like that. I thought it was because the previous owner had a toolbox across the front. I guess maybe it's not now that I see yours.

I can't explain the raised portion of the front of the bed......it does not look like my '17 OR.....looks like something has been added on there as you can see some kind of support(s) under the cap.

My 2018 has that across the front of the bed, but it's level with the rest of the bed. My cover fits perfect.

Inserts are for the OEM cover. Loosen torx screws and readjust the head rail.

So, is this issue some of are having due to a slug worker at the assembly plant not doing his/her job correctly? Or maybe is a result of the Friday After lunch syndrome...
