Coolant

Has anyone ever done a Coolant flush? Any tips and which Coolant to buy? I heard we should stick to Toyota's Coolant.

Hello Tacoma899,

The job is pretty easy. It is just a little time consuming.

1. Make sure you have all of the parts, and yes, use the Toyota coolant. If you have not done the hoses, make sure you have the hoses to replace the old ones.
2. Make sure you have about three gallons of distilled chemical free water.
3. Start your rig up and take it for a short drive, and let the engine get to operating temperature.
4. Remove the front splash guard.
5. Find the radiator drain cock which is at the bottom of the radiator on either the left side or the right side, unscrew it, and drain the coolant out into splash pan.
6. Screw the drain cock back into place.
7. Fill the radiator to the appropriate amount with distilled water.
8. Do Steps 3 through 5 again.
9. Change out the hoses if they are old and need to be changed.
10. Drain the over flow tank.
11. Fill the radiator and overflow tank to the appropriate level with fresh Toyota coolant.

Good Luck

Paul
