Exterior lights

Right before winter i installed a 32 inch light bar and 2 ditch lights. They work great... if the temperature is over freezing... they are wired with 1 harness with Relay and fuse in line. Has anyone experienced this before or does anyone have recommendations to fix? IMG_3392.jpg

May be a faulty relay or maybe have some moisture in it. Since a relay has a moving mechanism inside, it could be freezing up. I would start there and drop a couple bucks from an auto parts store and replace it. An easy test would be when they don’t turn on, tap on the relay and see if it engages

Check your wires to the relay. No hot, no work. No ground, no work. The relay needs both hot and ground to function.

Some relays are self grounding thru their mounting tabs (which would be metal). Others need a separate ground wire to function. There is a schematic somewhere on the relay. Top or side usually.

Needless to say, the self grounding relay must be mounted to a grounded metal surface, or have a ground wire run to the mounting tab.
