Frame Replacement (Recall)

I get to take my truck to the dealership for inspection and may get my frame replaced completely for free. There are some holes on the gussets that the body sits on. And the frame seems to be fairly rusted. Do you think they will replace my frame? Has anyone had there frame replaced because of this?

Pics?

I just got the call from the dealer yesterday that my '10 has a recall on it. Not sure what they'll find other than a lot of dirt and dust from driving down a 2 mile long gravel road to work every day.

On your gen 3 already?
I haven’t seen any on mine. I’ll undercoat it as soon as I do... I may anyway.
I intended on undercoating it when I first got it so did my bro with the other Gen3 I've been keeping a very close eye on it. But yes gentleman I'd be willing to say Toyota will be buying alot more frames in a few years

05-10 is the recall. It's still in the legal process so not technically a recall yet. The dealership made sure I was aware of this. LOL.
Anyways I'm going for my inspection on the 31st.

Got my truck back from the Dealership. They said there is some perforation, so they took pictures and sent it off to Toyota Canada. Guess I'll have to wait and see what's next!

One 10 mm perforated hole in my 07 under drivers side c channel. They did much more than the frame. Lower control arms and all the hardware, rear springs, fuel and brake lines on the frame, wire harness. Four pages of parts!

They are replacing my frame right now. So for now I get to cruise around in a brand new Rav4. Lol. Needed to fork out $1400 for a new exhaust system cause it was rusted so bad :| but they are covering the labor. They had it taken apart in about a day and a half. I'm sure it'll take much longer to put together.

I am at the Dealership my 2014 was part of the recall. One would think Toyota would have corrected this problem it now extends to the 2017 moldels

Sounds like their supplier pulled a quick one on them. Sent them good frames for their quality inspection before getting the bid and then sent them garbage when required to meet Toyota's quota.

Got my notice last week pertaining to my 2013. I'm in New England and keep 'em oiled, so no rust through. Says they'll be sending out a notice to apply undercoating of some sort in the near future if I don't have perforation. Personally, I don't get how Toyota has to be responsible for rusting frames or anything else made of steel. If it's subjected to moisture, it will rust. Even the best of oil undercoatings in use 'round here can't prevent rust, only prolong the inevitable. I wash as much salt and sand out from as many nooks and crannies as I can in the spring and fall, and re-oil. I've never known any of the sticky coatings to stay stuck through a winter, so outside of keeping underbodies oiled on a regular basis, even a new replacement frame is going to rust, too. When does it end? Just sayin'. Oh, and now waiting for notice on my 2015!

They are responsible because they sourced a supplier that used cheap metal that is penetrated by rust. Steel will rust but it doesn't lose it's integrity until it has completely oxidized. I think they have taken the responsibility for two reasons; it is a safety concern and they are committed to quality and customer satisfaction more than any other vehicle manufacturer out there. It's situations like this that makes me want to continue to rely on Toyota for my vehicular needs.
