Help deciding which tacoma..

Throwout bearing issues, shift fork issues at one point and the gearing ia terrible. There is a 2k RPM drop between 1st and 2nd, reverse is too tall and 6th is too short.

The 4 banger is slow no matter what. The V6 isn't all that quick either. Yeah I can pop it into 4wd at a light and launch on ricers but beating a typical Honda isn't saying much.:D

From what I hear the 5 speed manual is good. The manual for the 4 banger is a 5 speed and the manual for the V6 is a 6 speed and no they aren't interchangeable when ordering.

I don't have any issues with my 6 speed. Shifts like a truck, not a race car. Pretty much shifts like my '69 International P/U did. I don't have a 2k RPM drop between 1st & 2nd either. 2~3k is where I shift at in all gears. About every 10mph of speed.

If you want to drag race buy a hot rod, I have one, '70 Chevelle SS396 4 speed. I drive that if I want to blow past anyone.

Well technically the X Runner is a "sporty" vehicle and they still use the same trash 6 speed.

I didn't mind the 5 speed in my Ranger but I will never again buy a manual 4wd truck. I'll save the manuals for sports cars and gas savers.
