Is getting a k&n air filter or trd air filter pretty much the same effect as a CAI?

Get a cleanable filter if you want. I did, I like that if I need to I can pull it shake it get back to 80% and go if I needed to. Other wise OEM is cheap buy 8 before it makes it worth the $$$
I like aFe dry personally I wouldn’t do KnN might just be me.

Buy a scangauge2.... Record iat vs ambient temps at 45/50 mph... Base purchase on facts?
Keep scangauge, it's worth more than any intake

You still have the OEM airbox so there would be no extra noise. Those oiled filters usually let more dirt in your engine.

Oiled filters like the K&N will potentially jack up your Mass Air Flow sensor. And they can let more crap in like @whippersnapper02 said.
The 3.5 is designed to run well as is, albeit it noisy with a tick it’ll be a motor to last for years I’m sure.
Get a reusable if you want like AFE, like @OR17TRD said.
Also a scangauge or OBD2 reader isn’t a bad idea like @Bojangles said.
