Need some wheel help?

A while back Whippersnapper told me that all the Tacoma wheels would fit my 2001 Tacoma Limited. I think that is what he said!

I just plain don't like the wheels on the 2001, and would really like to put some other factory wheels on it.
I have heard that different wheels might not fit correctly and I would/might need some sort of adaptor because of offset differences, is this true ? I really don't like the idea of using an adaptor to change some minor differences.

What are my options? I really know very little about wheels and the variances involved in switching.

I want to stay with the 16 inch wheels, 265/70/16.

All the 6 lug 1st gen wheels are a direct fit for 6 lug 1st gens. Offset changed with the 2nd gen rims so you may or may not need a spacer. My buddy ran 1st gen Prerunner wheels on his 2nd gen Sport and used the 17s from his sport on his 1st gen. I'm not sure if he used spacers or not. The lug pattern is the same between both generations.
