Does anyone have an idea why there is a thin paper gasket between the face of the axle flange where the brake drum mounts? At 63, this is a first for me to find on a vehicle. 2018 Tacoma TRD off road V6
There were paper gaskets on the transmission/overdrive on my old Triumph Spitfire. I almost think they were used for the pumpkin gasket too. Hard to find so we used grocery bags cut to match. [emoji6]
Edit: That was 90 weight behind it with basically no pressure and they were PAPER grocery bags (remember those?).
Is this possibly something that is unique to my truck model and year? The paper gasket is found on Toyota parts pages, so it's not a factory method to keep the brake drum from sliding off on the assembly line.
