Trying non-ethanol in my 2013

I noticed here in FL (or maybe anywhere) that in the summer with the AC on, using 10% ethanol either regular of middle grade just made the truck seem sluggish. This is a 6-cylinder. We have non-ethanol available at some stations (at a considerably higher price). I decided to try a tank full -- wow, what a difference in performance. I haven't checked the mileage yet, but some have claimed it improves slightly.

Maybe most of you seasoned forum folks knew this already -- but, in case anyone is having a similar performance issue and you're willing to pay a bit more -- give non-ethanol a try.

Yup. Ethanol is basically water for gasoline. All the gasoline here in CA has it so no luck getting it or else I'd be there all the time.
 
Thanx, that's good to know. I've been using 89 octane ethanol free, for a few years now. On a side note.. A few days ago, I noticed that my engine is making a rattling sound when I'm accelerating. This happens at around 40 mph. I've never heard it before. My truck is 2 yrs old. It has 25000 miles and some change. V6 engine. 4x4. The only thing I can think of is
The day that it started, I had just had my oil changed at one of those non dealership places. They used the Haveline equivalent of Toyotas synthetic blend. This was the first time I had my oil changed from a non Toyota dealership. Could this be the cause of rattling and knocking sound? I'm kinda directing this at whipper snapper. You seem to know your stuff.

Did you checks oil level afters change?
You may just be pinging? What is elevations?

Oil is oil so there should be no issue unless they used the wrong viscosity.
