RECALL

Yeah that recall effected several years, if I recall it was late 18's thru the 2020 model years and not only Tacoma's, I'm thinking it was pretty much everything in the Toyota line that had the 3.5 engine. I had my 19 for 6 months or so before it was recalled and then had to wait a year for them to actually come up with a fix. Never had the first issue but it was always in the back of my mind. No big deal to get it done, just call you're dealer and schedule you're appointment, takes about 2 hours. My neighbor had taken his in for scheduled service and they did his while he was there for an oil change and rotation.

As an addition to my last post I think Honda had a major fuel pump problem too. Just my personal opinion is that it is the e15 gas causing the issues. They won't say that because that would be throwing shade on the EPA but what was said was that the problem was more prevalent in certain areas and in warmer climates. They said that the issue was the gas was dissolving the coating on the impeller and then the impeller would swell up and seize. Around here there is only one station brand that carries e15 but in some areas e15 is more popular.

Mines. 2017,, just got the letter
July 5th,7 am,,getting it done!
Some guys says more responsive,,let’s see!
I'm splitting hairs here but mine is smoother with new fuel pump, not that it was rough before but to be fair it is smoother. I guess the degree of improvement depends on how bad you're old pump is. I didn't think the original recall went back to the 17's, maybe they figured out they had a bigger problem than they originally thought.

Yeah right Taco,,,I’ve been watching the recalls also and I didn’t think the 2017 was part of it,,,but hey,I’ll take a new pump,no charge. My son in law works for company that handles all warranty claims on most vehicles,he ran my vin,Toyota gives them 2 hours to drop the tank and change it! It’s the low pressure pump in the tank,,495.00 part !

They know they can get away with it because a lot of Indy shops won't touch a BMW or Mercedes except maybe an oil change.
My Boss has a 2nd business.....outdoor power (Hustler and Stihl).....their shop labor is $55/hour......he got a call from another business in town and said he needs to raise his prices to protect their business and rates. All he said was WHY? His shop is busy as all get out......you want to protect your own business?......lower your shop price to his.
