Question... if I switched back to reg 5w30 (non-high mileage version), would this damage my engine? Only reason I ask, is because the high mileage version costs little more.
Well you have to understand that the 05 was the first gen with the 4.0l so it had issues like the head gasket problem. Obviously this was fixed in the later 4.0l models. Take it from me, I have an 08 with 240k and drive it very hard, and she runs like new.
Yeah look it up man, it’s a big issue. Exact same problem has happened to most owners of the 05 4.0l taco owners. Ever wonder why 05 tacos are generally cheaper than most other years?

I wanna regear my 2nd gen taco. I have 33”s but I have no idea how regearing works. Has anyone on here re-geared with 33”s? And if so was it worth it? And was there any performance difference?
Hell nah, second I do that there park rangers will give me a fat ticket... it was glider port in La Jolla. Pretty lowkey spot to mess around without any trouble!
