Ive been using mobil one oil and filter for the past year. Small improvement over the lower quality brands so it’s all I use. Doesn’t fix it though.
Truck seems to rattle less when it’s below freezing but it can still rattle regardless of temperature. Sometimes i get lucky and it won’t rattle...
I am not op but when I bought my 2020 Tacoma from a dealer it had 100k miles, (as is no warranty). Funny stuff the engine light turned on 5 minutes after driving off the lot with it. Had a bad cat converter.
I assume they knew about rattling issue but didn’t say anything or maybe I’m just plain...
Mine rattles no matter the outside temperature. Take a video and post it so we know it’s the same rattle cause when mine starts up angry it’s loud as hell. It’s more than disconcerning
I took it to the local Toyota dealer today.
They recommend replacing camshaft gear assembly. Quoted me $2300 with a, “We think this will solve the issue.”
I use high quality oil and filter. Lighter viscosity so it circulates faster especially in cold temps but it still rattles like a ***** on a cold start. Not sure what the previous owner used but I had the oil pan dropped to check for sludge and there wasn’t any. I didn’t check anywhere else...
