Tuners

Has any one put a tuner or a pedal commander on ? Just looking for some real experiences not some BS sales pitch !! Thanks

I have had a Pedal Commander for a year. It improves throttle response and makes it feel like there is more power but there isn’t. Once you get it on a setting you like it makes your truck much more driveable. Beware of more tire wear.

Orange Virus tune for over 30k miles and around a year and a half. The truck just gets better and better with each update. It's never ran smoother or sounded more stress-free than the new 2.0 version released a couple weeks ago. It still pulls itself up some impressive hills in 6th gear with 34" tires and a bed full of camping gear and got 18 mpg on a trip a few days ago. I give it a big [emoji106].

I'm not interested in a tuner right now but it's in the back of my mind for possibly a future purchase. Right this minute I've got some other things I gotta take care of. Once you buy an OV tune does that include future updates or do you have to purchase each update? How hard and how much computer knowledge do you need to successfully install tune? The only thing I know about computers is what ive taught myself so I'm pretty hesitant about getting too deep into reprogramming something. I do know a guy thats a computer geek and all he does is automotive electronics so I'm sure I could get him to help me out for a few $ if need be.

1 time purchase. I used to be fairly electronically illiterate as well but this is pretty simple. There's also a handheld option now but mine is all on my laptop.
Literally, download the tune you want, open flash manager, hit 'Flash It' and it takes less than 30 secs most times. I have no idea why so many people are intimidated and detoured by this mod.... It took more time to tell you how simple it is than it would've to put a different tune in my truck. No doubt, my favorite thing I've done to the truck.

One thing to keep in mind is on their website they recommend all TSB's and recalls be done before installing tune. Depending on year of vehicle there are different ones. My 19 is currently under recall for the fuel pump so only yota knows when I'll be able to get that fixed.

It's always a good idea to have the latest TSB's flashed. I did that myself with TechStream.

No real tuners that I know of an a Pedal Commander doesn't add power, it just makes the throttle more sensitive but in a fairly smart way. Throttle response wasn't an issue in my Tacoma but it's a noticeable issue in my Runner. I'm pretty have with the Pedal Commander on it.
