Tacoma 88 Grabbing Brakes Repair

Hi Forum,
I'm a newbie here so please forgive my total naivety. There is a 88 tacoma that is available for cheap near where i live and id love to buy it however the advert describes that though its mechanically still good, "there are issues with the grabbing brakes and these components are no longer available"

Given the price id be happy to spend a few grand fixing the issue. But is this something that can be done or am i entering into a world of pain?

Would really appreciate your guy's expertise on this.

Thanks

Max

Don't even bother looking for parts in a wrecking yard. Most Toyota trucks don't get sent to the wrecking yard, from what I've been told they get cut half in 2 between the cab and bed and shipped to Mexico and South and Central America.

There is no such thing as a 1988 Tacoma. Most parts stores have them listed as "pickups". Should be easy to get most every part that pickup needs at O'Reilly's, napa etc. If it's just brakes that it needs that's a fairly cheap and easy fix.

I will say I believe MaxD misspoke. Probley a Millennial and in his excitement called a Toyota pickup truck a "Tacoma". Let's cut him a brake on this one.

Lol, I meant no harm, was just educating him in case he didn't know. I'm hardcore Toyota and I love helping people learn about them.
