I hear the Walmart tires are of lower quality than what you can get at an actual tire shop.

You mean there could be two types of Wrangler Authorities, Walmart kind and legit kind? Or those tires are only carried by Walmart and are lower quality?

Sorry if that doesn't make sense.

Nah I get it. I believe both counts are true. A good buddy of mine used to work at a tire place so he would fill me in on the tricks of the trade. Of course only personal experience matters. They could be junk tires but they end up working great for you.

Time for sum new tires on the gen2 ... about 65k miles wheeled on em and definitely are Not safe to drive on wett roads
It will be 3rd set including original
Hopefully it will eliminate this awful droning noise on the roll but my hopes not set too high at all

If tires have the 3 peak mountain snowflake symbol...those tires have been rated for deeper snow, as many all terrain tires are. All season....usually are not. Been looking at those kumho ht51 crugen all season tires that have the snowflake symbol.

I don't need an a/t tire with the snowflake symbol on this 3rd gen taco, it goes off-road here with all season tires better than my tundra did with a/t tires.

I'm running Hercules Trail Diggers right now. Too early to give much to report on but so far I really like them. I have also run Goodyear Duratracs. They were great all around tires that lasted for 50,000 miles with tread left to burn. Also had Yokohama Geolandars ATII's. They were meh. Were crap off road and only lasted about 25,000 before they got hard and slick. And of course the infamous Rugged Fails.....
My friend works for tirebuyer.com ,he said they own Hercules and they are going to compete with the Grappler line of Nittos but be cheaper. I'm passing that along

Just came back from a round trip to my shop in torrington....freakin old factory across the street north of my shop burned down. They're investigating it as arson as it went up so quickly. It was all over the connecticut news the other week. I couldn't really see much of it as they still have all the roads sealed off. From what I heard they had several different cities fighting the blaze for a couple days. Smoke is still rising a week later.
At any this is about the kumko tires I had installed. Bottom line, I like them, especially when they were $30 apiece less than other similar brand tires. Their better than those firestone destination le2 tires...I guess having a whole lot more thread helps to. They're smoother, with less road noise on these back road highways, but the firestones were smoother on these bombed out city streets that have no shortage of potholes.
I'd recommend them to anyone looking for a good all around all season tire rated for 70k miles thread life with the snowflake symbol that cost less.
