Are Soft Tops a Practical Upgrade for the Toyota Tacoma?

Hello everyone.

I'm considering switching my Toyota Tacoma from a hard shell to a soft top and wanted to hear real-world experiences. How do soft tops hold up to daily driving, highway noise, and long-term weather exposure like rain, snow, and strong sun?

Are there specific brands that fit better or last longer without sagging or leaking?

How secure are they against theft, and how easy is installation or removal for one person? I also wonder about visibility, fuel economy changes, and whether soft tops affect resale value.

Any pros, cons, or maintenance tips would be greatly appreciated from current Tacoma owners.

thanks in advance for any help

All I can comment is the factory tri fold tonneau cover on my 2020 tacoma 6' bed has been very good. No issues of any sort yet. Just treat it with a tonneau protectant a few times a year after cleaning it.
Only highway noise I get from this cover is in heavy crosswinds, otherwise the truck drives normal as one without it.
